Speed is being considered a factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed a driver Tuesday in Dinwiddie County, according to state police.

The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 14600 block of Cox Road, or state Route 751. A Lincoln sedan was traveling west when the driver lost control as he entered a curve. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, police said.

The driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was not wearing a seat belt, police said. He was the car's only occupant and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
