Richmond police are looking for three men they say awoke a man sleeping outside, followed him into a downtown alley and attacked and robbed him.

The incident occurred around 10:09 p.m. Wednesday between the 400 block of East Grace and Franklin streets.

The victim told police he was sleeping in the 300 block of East Franklin Street when three men woke him and told him he couldn’t sleep there. They followed him into an alley and struck the man on the head, police said.

Police said the three assailants took an undisclosed amount of money and fled. They were last seen on foot heading east in the alley and turned north on Fifth Street toward Broad Street.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the identity of these suspects to call Fourth Precinct Detective A. Pavlenko at (804) 646-4996 or contact Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or online at www.7801000.com. Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
