A man and woman, already facing robbery charges in connection with a death in the Fan District, have now been charged with murder.

Nicole P. Andrews, 41, of the 8200 block of Elswick Lane in Henrico County, and Donnell A. Young, 38, of the 3400 block of Maury Street in Richmond, were charged with first-degree murder in the death of Charles P. Smith.

Smith was found dead inside his home in the 2000 block of Stuart Avenue on May 7, after officers responded to a call for a welfare check, Richmond police said.

Andrews and Young were arrested May 23 as part of an operation by the U.S. Marshals Service. They were initially charged with grand larceny, conspiracy and robbery.
