Police lights day

UPDATE: State police said Thursday night that the three people who died in Wednesday's head-on collision on Interstate 95 in Prince George County were all from Florida.

Police identified the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze as Eric G. Estes, 38, of Oldsmar, Fla. He was wearing his seat belt and died at the scene, police said.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Lincoln Navigator were identified as Gary K. Lilly, 70, and Elizabeth L. Lilly, also 70, respectively. Police said the two, both of The Villages, Fla., were not wearing their seat belts and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL: Three people were killed Wednesday afternoon after a driver veered across an Interstate 95 median and struck another car head-on in Prince George County, police said.

The collision occurred just before 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 36.9 on southbound I-95, Virginia State Police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze was traveling north on I-95, before veering across the median and striking a Lincoln Navigator traveling south, according to police.

The driver and passenger of the Lincoln Navigator, as well as the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, died at the scene. Their identities were not immediately released.
