HARRIS, Hampton O’Connor, 82, of Mechanicsville, Va., passed away on May 17, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Drudge Harris of Mechanicsville; a daughter, Laura Harris Gwynn of Reston, Va.; two granddaughters, Katelyn Gwynn of New York City and Sarah Gwynn of Reston; and a sister, Sharon Harris Covington of Henrico, Va. He graduated from the old John Marshall High School, attended the College of William and Mary and received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University). He completed his military service obligation in the Air Force Reserves and Air Guard. Following a career in healthcare in North Carolina and Virginia, he contributed many volunteer service hours to several area organizations and was a proud member of the Masonic Fraternity and a longtime member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was forever grateful to his wife of 59 years for her moral and financial support while attending college and living in the Fan District. He considered that time as some of the best years of their lives. A family graveside service will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, Va., at a later date.
