Lee-Davis finished second in the Region 5B gymnastics championships Saturday at Deep Run, but only a handful of Confederates will advance to the Virginia High School League Class 5 championships on Feb. 15-16.

Only the region champion, Deep Run, will compete for the Class 5 team title, which will be held at Salem High School in Virginia Beach. The Wildcats edged the Confederates by less than 6 points, 135.78 to 130.28.

Lee-Davis will be represented in the Class 5 individual competition by Sydney Owens, who finished second in the vault with a score of 8.925; Lizzie Hasley, who finished third in the uneven bars with a score of 8.725; and Madi Wagensteen, who finished third in the floor performance with a score of 9.0.

Atlee’s Elizabeth Bosley had the best finish of the day, winning the vault with a score of 9.3. She also finished fourth in the balance beam with a score of 8.3. She is the only Raider to advance to the Class 5 championships.
