A Hanover County school bus collided head-on with a work van Wednesday morning in the western part of the county, authorities said.

All the children on the bus were evaluated and none was injured, said Sgt. James Cooper of the Hanover Sheriff's Office. The van's driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as serious.

The bus was picking up children and moving east on Old Ridge Road when it collided with the eastbound work van, Cooper said.

Cooper declined further comment on how the crash happened, citing an ongoing investigation.

Old Ridge Road will be closed between Gun Barrel Road and the Louisa County line until late morning or early afternoon.
