Emergency crews responded to flash flooding around Richmond on Tuesday evening after a quick storm dumped 2.5 inches of rain in parts of the metro area.

Police rushed to block roads and fire crews deployed boats to retrieve at least one person from their car after it stalled out in the middle of a flooded road just of Hull Street.

A flash flood warning was in effect until 8:30 p.m. for Richmond and surrounding areas, with forecasters warning of potential flooding around creeks, streams, low-lying roads and other poorly drained areas.

By nightfall, water had begun receding in most areas.
