U.S. News & World Report, the news outlet famous for its rankings of colleges and high schools, has released its top high schools for this year broken down by metropolitan area.

This is the first time U.S. News has ranked high schools by metropolitan area. It usually just sorts top high schools by state.

The rankings were based on scores judging a school’s quality, such as math and reading tests and graduation rates. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate results were also weighed in the rankings.

Here are the top 20 high schools in the Richmond area, according to U.S. News & World Report:
