Rodman and Lothe

Debra Rodman, left, and Veena Lothe sought the Democratic nomination to run against Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant, R-Henrico.

Del. Debra Rodman captured a Democratic primary Tuesday for the right to take on Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant, R-Henrico, in November.

Rodman topped Veena Lothe, a lawyer who specializes in civil rights and immigration.

Rodman was first elected to her House seat in 2017, defeating veteran Del. John O'Bannon, a Henrico Republican who held the seat from 2001 to 2018.

Dunnavant, an obstetrician and gynecologist, was first elected in 2015 to represent the district, which is chiefly in Henrico County, but includes a portion of Hanover County.
