Del. Chris Peace (left) and Hanover County Supervisor Scott Wyatt had a long battle over the GOP nomination in the 97th House District. Wyatt ultimately prevailed.

There was no public resolution Tuesday in the contest for the GOP nomination in the 97th House District between Del. Chris Peace, R-Hanover, and Hanover County Supervisor Scott Wyatt.

This Saturday’s meeting of the State Central Committee, the GOP’s governing body, could provide some clarity.

The committee will meet at the Richmond Convention Center.

The Republican Party of Virginia reportedly had until Monday to certify a candidate for the seat.

The Virginia Department of Elections, which has received two sets of paperwork declaring two nominees, reached out to the RPV on Thursday, asking which document should prevail.

State GOP officials and state elections officials declined to comment on Tuesday.
