MANUEL, Gladys Rachel Hopkins "Mama Gladys," 99, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Horace and Bernscenia Hopkins. Gladys was a retired waitress at Bennie's Tea Room for over 15 years. She was the oldest living member of Moore Street Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar Manuel; grandson, Wayne Curtis Harris (Denise); sisters, Esterina Edmonds, Olivia Shelton, Clara and Ada Hopkins; brothers, Cornelius and Welford Hopkins; and son-in-law, Wendell Jordan Sr. Surviving are her daughter, Claudette Hopkins Jordan; grandchildren, Orgia Labidi (Joshua), Sarrita Moss (David) and Wendell Jordan Jr. (Rita); 10 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and devoted friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Riverview Cemetery, 1401 S. Randolph Street.
