PURYEAR, Emmalene Paschal, age 83, of Mechanicsville, gained her heavenly wings on June 10, 2019. Emmalene was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Pole Green Church of Christ and Compass Christian Church in Mechanicsville. While working, she served as secretary of Liberty Christian School and Pole Green Church. For many years, Jay and Emmalene traveled the East Coast videotaping Christian revival camps, where they made many friends who enjoyed hearing the Gospel of Christ. She was predeceased by her parents, Emmett Eugene and Mary Pauline Garner Paschal; her husband, Jay; five brothers, Gene, Harvey, Jerry, William, Glenn Paschal; and three sisters, Virginia Keuhner, Catherine Otts and Beverly Branton. Survivors include three sons, Michael (Sharon) Puryear, Dennis (Susan) Puryear, Robert Puryear; and daughter, Susan Gentry; two granddaughters, Shannon (Kyle) Hicks, Willow Puryear; and grandsons, Ricky Gentry, Daryl (Laura) Gentry; and great-grandson, Mason Gentry; brother-in-law, Frank (Ina) Puryear; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the care she received from the Redmond Hospital cardiac team in Rome, Georgia and Dr. Sameer Rohatgi and his team with VCS/ Memorial Regional in Mechanicsville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111, where a service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Emmanuel Episcopal Church cemetery.
