All must consider where

guns fit in civil society

Editor, Times-Dispatch:

Kirk Cox’s solution to all these mass shootings apparently involves locking up the shooters.

A large majority of the shooters are either killed by law enforcement or commit suicide, so locking them up is not a serious solution. It must be acknowledged that mental health issues need to be seriously addressed as well as access to guns, ammunition and related items.

Finally, we must reject the beliefs some apparently have that guns are some sort of sacred, holy objects and that we must not take any actions to control the problem nor must we talk about valid solutions or even think about them due to the sacrosanct nature of guns.
