Over the past 11 years, Subaru of America and its retail dealers have donated more than $140 million to national charities and more than 1,170 local charities through the Subaru Share the Love Program. Here at home, Subaru of Richmond is entering its eighth year as a proud partner and supporter of Fetch A Cure, raising more than $50,000 to date.
Fetch A Cure is a local 501©(3) organization working to further pet cancer awareness, education and treatment. Its mission is simple: a community where no one is denied a choice for their pet’s health due to lack of options, education or funding.
Why did Subaru of Richmond choose Fetch A Cure? This too, is simple. “It’s a perfect fit and ties in seamlessly with the Subaru brand and our dealership,” said General Sales Manager Billy Theodorakos. “It’s obvious that the Subaru brand is a huge supporter of many things related to animals, and especially dogs. Ninety percent of the staff here has a pet, or more than one, in his or her household. Some of us bring them to work, and we encourage our customers to bring pets in while we service their vehicles or go for a test drive to be sure their pet fits comfortably into their new Subaru. Many of our staff members have had cancer, or pets that had cancer, and have seen the heartbreak that it can bring to a pet’s owner, and the financial burden of caring for these pets. So after meeting eight years ago with Joanne and the support staff from Fetch A Cure, it was an easy decision. We love working with Fetch A Cure. It’s extremely gratifying to see how the organization has grown and to see first-hand how many pets have been saved, and how many families have received help with financial costs.”
