PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh pushed across a run in the fourth inning on a groundout and made it stand in a 1-0 victory over visiting Virginia Tech on Sunday.

The Hokies (13-6, 3-3 ACC) limited the Panthers (7-11, 1-5) to three hits but couldn’t capitalize on several chances to complete a series sweep in the ACC. Carson Taylor had two of Tech’s five hits.

UCF 8, VCU 2: Central Florida built an 8-0 lead and subdued VCU in Orlando, Fla. Paul Witt went 2 for 3 and Tomas Sanchez was 2 for 4 for the Rams (14-5), who had scored at least six runs in seven of their previous eight games.

Steven Carpenter knocked in both runs for VCU.

The Knights (14-6) were led by Ray Alejo (2 for 5, RBI) and Tyler Osik (2 for 4, RBI).

Georgia Tech 6, Virginia 5: The Cavaliers scored three runs in the eighth inning and one in the ninth but couldn’t compete the comeback in an ACC game in Atlanta.

Cayman Richardson went 4 for 4 for the Cavaliers (9-10, 2-4 ACC) and Brenden Rivoli hit a three-run homer.

Kyle McCann had two hits and drove in two runs for the Yellow Jackets (13-7, 3-3).

Quinnipiac 6, Richmond 5: The Spiders rallied for three runs late but couldn’t draw even in a loss to the visiting Bobcats (5-10). Starter Brendan McGuigan allowed four runs — one earned — in 5 2/3 innings for UR (10-5).

Jordan Schulefand and Sage Bruhl each had two hits for the Spiders, and Anthony Forte drove in two runs.
