CHARLOTTESVILLE — Nic Kent’s three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh propelled Virginia to a 5-2 victory Sunday and a three-game sweep of visiting Pittsburgh.

Mike Vasil pitched five innings, allowing one run and striking out five.

Paul Kosanovich secured his fourth win of the season with three innings of relief, allowing two hits and a run.

Zack Gelof also homered for the Cavaliers, while Cayman Richardson went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

VCU 3, UMass 1: Steven Carpenter’s two-run single in the eighth inning helped the Rams complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Minutemen.

Carpenter’s single scored Andrew Puglielli and Brett Norwood, putting VCU up for good.

Jack Alkire allowed two hits over 3⅓ innings en route to his third win of the season. The Rams’ bullpen struck out five over five innings.

Marist 10, Richmond 5: Daniel Little went 3 for 4 with a three-run homer, but the Spiders couldn’t avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the visiting Red Foxes.

Richmond strung together four runs in the third inning, including Little’s homer. However, Robbie Armitage responded with two of Marist’s four homers.

Brendan McGuigan suffered his second loss of the season, allowing six runs over five innings.

North Carolina 5, Virginia Tech 2: Kevin Madden went 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, but the Hokies fell to the visiting Tar Heels.

Madden’s triple in the seventh scored Nick Biddison, and Michael Fernandez followed with an RBI groundout.

However, Dylan Enwiller’s three-run homer in the second proved insurmountable.
