After 24 years as president of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, Eddie Webb announced he will step down from his position, effective Feb. 1. The hall’s marketing and sales director, Will Driscoll, will become president, as determined by the organization’s board of directors.

Webb is a 1971 Patrick Henry High School grad, a former basketball player at Randolph-Macon, and an ex-basketball assistant at VCU and other Division I programs. Driscoll, a Norfolk native, has been part of the hall staff since 2017.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, in operation for 52 years, celebrates athletic excellence in the state and inducts former players and coaches, ex-Olympians, administrators, journalists, special contributors, and others. The hall in June 2017 closed its Portsmouth building and shifted its presence to Virginia Beach Town Center, which also features hotels, restaurants, retail space and offices.

Webb will stay on in a consulting role for an undetermined period.
